How many times have you heard that “dogs are the kid’s best friends”? Many, right? We fully support this affirmation as we believe that dogs offer not only unconditional company but many more benefits than we can´t even imagine.
Recent scientific studies prove that children who grow close to dogs are 50% less likely to develop allergies and asthma than those who grow up without a dog. Of course you should keep up to date the vaccines for both your child and your dog to be on the safe side.
When dogs go outdoors they like to be on the ground sniffing, swallowing grass, getting dirty… and then, they usually go directly to play with your child. This shouldn’t worry you as babies interacting with dogs become stronger and they build resilience to bacteria, decreasing their vulnerability to diseases and reducing the probability of developing allergies. Let’s say that a few licks are not a major issue, if we consider that the bacteria or germs that live in your dog’s mouth are specific to the specie and it is difficult for your child to get sick through your dog’s drool. Rather than damaging your child, this will boost his immune system to prevent disease.
It is very important to think about the type of dog that better matches our family’s lifestyle and also, it is crucial that your child learns how to interact with your dog correctly. Even if the dog likes it, we must never leave them alone, especially with puppets, which can be unpredictable. In addition, if the dog is not known, it is recommended that you ask permission before cuddling him to avoid possible accidents.
Otherwise, having a dog growing up with your child has many advantages and benefits; they entertain themselves playing with each other, they exercise together, children acquire values such as respect, unconditional love, sensitivity, responsibility, generosity, contact with nature or socialization. For all this, they will become best friends forever.
As a matter of fact, I do not know any toy that brings so many good things. If you have thought that the next member of the family could have four legs, from MissBabysitter we encourage you to give it a thought. You will not regret it!
